Hello, I'm Phong Ho
I was born in Mỹ Tho, a small town in Vietnam, and moved to Edmonton, Canada at the age of six. Growing up, I developed a love for space inspired by Chris Hadfield’s time on the International Space Station, which fueled both my fascination with the universe and my passion for mathematics and physics. This interest carried through high school at St. Joseph and into my undergraduate studies at the University of Alberta, where I majored in Mathematics and minored in Physics, graduating with distinction.
I am now pursuing a thesis-based Master’s in Statistical Machine Learning at the University of Alberta, after beginning in a course-based program in modeling data and prediction. As a member of the Azari Research Group (ARG), my research focuses on applying non-parametric models to data from NASA’s Parker Solar Probe to estimate density distributions in the presence of sparse observations.
Looking ahead, I hope to work in the space industry, analyzing data from satellites and space missions to help expand humanity’s understanding of the universe. Whether modeling the solar wind, studying planetary dynamics, or developing methods to interpret complex datasets, my goal is to contribute to discoveries that push the boundaries of what we know about the world beyond our own.
